Hut Brigade
In 2006, a hut at Muhlenberg Brigade was burned in an act of arson. This terrible crime became the wonderful impetus for the Hut Brigade, a group of volunteers responsible for replacing the huts’ shingled roofs. With their hard work and dedication, the project was completed in just eight short weekends!
This special volunteer group has continued maintaining of these huts with tasks such as rebuilding chimneys, restoring bunks and replacing doors. In more recent years, the Brigade has expanded services to assist the park by making lanterns, popular water yokes, gabions for Ft. Moore, stools and new benches at Muhlenberg Brigade.
The Hut Brigade welcomes all interested parties. Familiarity with basic hand tools would be helpful, but prior construction or building experience is not necessary. Park rules require volunteers to be at least 16 years old. If you are interested in learning more or willing to assist please contact us. A volunteer FAQ is also available.
