Pennsylvania Piedmont: The Wildlands of Southeastern PA

Celebrate Earth Day and National Parks Week with ecologist Roger Latham!

Step into the Pennsylvania Piedmont with ecologist and conservation biologist Roger Latham to uncover the unique geology and ecology that makes Southeastern PA’s wildlands truly special. Explore freshwater tidal marshes, mafic glades, forests on diabase soils, and serpentine barrens—all home to many state-endangered species. Learn about the natural history and ongoing stewardship of these ecosystems, found nowhere else in the state.

Presented in partnership with Jenkins Arboretum & Gardens and Penn State Great Valley. This special program also marks the 50th anniversaries of both Valley Forge Park Alliance and Jenkins Arboretum & Gardens. Join us in commemorating this milestone moment - honoring 50 years of stewardship, education, and community connection.
