Help plan and implement future initiatives that benefit Valley Forge National Historical Park by getting involved in an Alliance leadership committee. Committees meet monthly and welcome your ideas and enthusiasm. Participation can include attending meetings and/or corresponding by email. Members are the lifeblood of the Alliance. And we know from experience, that many visitors and community residents desire to “give back” to the Park but are unsure how to do so. That’s where the Membership Committee comes in... engaging people to support the Park through fun activities and special events at the Park plus offsite happenings at neighborhood festivals and markets. If you enjoy talking to people, you’re already qualified to join this committee!
The committee meets on the first Wednesday of the month at 10 am. Additional membership planning meetings are held in the evening for volunteers who cannot attend during the day.
The Programs Committee works closely with the Park’s Interpretive Division and provides support for many of the visitor programs, special events and educational programs. Working with Park staff and rangers, committee members create unique learning opportunities and activities such as:
- Staffing the children’s colonial craft tables during Washington’s Birthday Celebration
- Baking bread at the Muhlenburg Brigade huts
- Drilling young troops at “Join the Continental Army” programs
- Determining speakers and content for the Alliance Speaker Series
- Coordinating educational field trips to historical sites — plus more!
If you have an interest in developing interpretive programming at the Park, this is the committee for you. The Program Committee meets at 7 pm on the first Monday of the month.
